Construction of Rutherglen’s $57 million, 50 bed aged care facility is on schedule for completion around mid-2025.
All exterior building work is now completed, leaving the continuation of internal building work to complete the facility’s construction.
There are currently about 70 construction workers on the big project.
To be operated by Indigo Health North, the new facility will house the re-located Glenview Community Care Nursing Home. It will include an additional 10 beds in an environment that is dementia-friendly and supports a range of resident care needs.
Each resident in the new facility will have a single bedroom and private ensuite, promoting dignity, privacy and independence.
Residents will share a community room and common areas designed to encourage social interaction and activities between residents, families and the community.
Member for Northern Victoria Region Jaclyn Symes visited the site on May 31 this year, at the half-way stage of construction.
Following the halfway mark milestone in May this year, works have progressed well with the roof to the facility now complete, internal works including all the building services required for the new facility are well underway and landscaping works have also commenced.
“The new and modern facility in Rutherglen will meet a range of complex health care needs – so locals won’t have to move away to access care, staying connected to family and the community,” Ms Symes said at the time.
