Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation decided to ‘take five’ on their Powder Stomp event – five years that is.
In 2018, Shepparton had its first colour run courtesy of the inaugural fundraiser, deemed a success for its budding donations and beaming smiles.
So why has it not returned since?
According to Allan Turner, the foundation’s managing director and proud dad of Zaidee, it has been a tough few years for the not-for-profit sector.
“COVID put a bit of a hiccup on all charities,” he said.
“We’ve been part of that lack of income and support over the past few years.
“We’re looking forward to raising and promoting organ and tissue donations in our community and on a national scale again and raising desperately needed funds to keep the foundation going.”
The foundation is re-launching Powder Stomp on Saturday, October 7, as a combined mini mud run, colour run and obstacle course for those aged five and up.
Over the 3km Kids Mad Cow Course in KidsTown, Mooroopna, participants will run through 50 obstacles and pass seven colour stations providing the fuel to fire away at their teammates.
In addition to the changes on the track, the colourful event boasts a new kind of winnings that is neither bronze, nor silver, nor gold.
“Everybody that attends gets a special engraved medal at the end, only this year, they’re wooden,” Mr Turner said.
“It’s something different and more environmentally friendly, as is our powder, it’s made of starch powder and easily decomposes, and so is the mud that comes out of the ground.”
Mr Turner said attendees are being encouraged to wear any kind of white t-shirt or buy a limited edition Zaidee Powder Stomp t-shirt on the day, to “really show off the colour and the mud”.
