The Kyabram RSL will be holding their annual Remembrance Day service this Saturday honouring those who have fought and served for this country.
The service will start at 10.50am at Memorial Gardens with a 20-year navy veteran, Terry Wilkinson, as a guest speaker.
“We’ll also have some ritual poppies so that, after the completion of the service, members of the public can take one of these and place it on the memorial,” Kyabram RSL secretary Bob Stone said.
Mr Stone said that Remembrance have always been something that the people of Kyabram commemorated.
“The community of Kyabram always seems to come together on moments like this,” he said.
“Last year we had a good crowd come out and show their support.”
Mr Stone said this show of support is especially meaningful to the service people within the community.
“It’s a validation of when people turn up that they remember and acknowledge what servicemen and servicewomen have gone through,” he said.
Like Anzac Day, November 11 is one for the entire family to attend and a good way to pass down the knowledge of the day.
“It really and can be a family affair, and it starts to ingrain the idea of Anzac Day and of Remembrance Day into the younger children,” Mr Stone said.
“We are seeing a rise in the number of younger people that are attending these ceremonies. So that’s a really good thing to be happening.”
