Echuca teens now have a great place where they can chill and relax with like-minded people at the Echuca Library.
Sessions take place from 6pm to 8pm and the next ones are on April 3 and April 17.
Campaspe Shire Mayor Rob Amos said it’s a great initiative that will provide more opportunities for youth in the region.
“This program is about bringing young people together to hang out with one another and do their own thing in a safe space,” Cr Amos said.
“The Wednesday night dedicated youth spaces will be held in the Echuca Library on alternating weeks.”
The Library Youth Take Over program provides a range of activities, including creative arts, digital entertainment, a place to relax with friends, free refreshments and a safe space for youth to be themselves.
“It’s a great alternative to sport or other extracurricular activities for youth and gives them the opportunity to spend some time together,” Cr Amos said.
“The program is designed for secondary school-aged young people and will provide a space for those kids that are looking for a change to their usual hangout spots.”
The sessions will be supervised and vapes, smoking, alcohol and drugs will not be tolerated.
