Campaspe Shire Council and Echuca Regional Health have joined hands to bring together the Movers and Shakers Market event as part of the 16 Days of Activism.
The global campaign takes place annually between Monday, November 25 and Tuesday, December 10 and spotlights the issue of violence against women and girls.
Local artist Amelia May will be performing live acoustic music for guests to enjoy while exploring various stalls showcasing talents from local women and girls.
There will also be health and wellbeing stalls offering free women’s checks, including blood pressure and risk screening.
Support services in the region will also host stalls, offering local information and wellbeing support.
Additionally, there will be food stalls and craft stalls from local artisans.
ERH executive director community Cynthia Robins said it was also an opportunity to think of children who may be affected by the violence.
“Violence of any kind impacts the person experiencing it, the impacts on children, however, are not as a witness, rather as a victim,” she said.
“Early childhood adversity can lead to toxic stress that directly affects growth and development. Recovery is possible, yet prevention makes our community a better place.”
During the 16 Days of Activism, the council building will be illuminated orange in the evenings as a way of showing support for the campaign.
The market will be held on Thursday, November 28 from 4pm to 7pm at the Echuca Arts Precinct, located at 13-17 Murray Esplanade.
