It’s not Mexico, but locals and visitors alike have been able to enjoy a little slice of Mexico thanks to Cactus Country.
Attracting more than 30,000 visitors annually, Cactus Country is a nature lovers paradise featuring approximately 5 hectares of gardens and colourful courtyards.
Cactus Country’s John Hall said walking its trails was akin to taking a trip across the world.
“You can walk through the regions of South America, North America, Mexico and Africa,” he said.
“Each garden is unique in its own way, and every year we add more and more to the look and feel of the venue ... It’s not just a plant lover’s dream, you really do feel like you’ve been transported to another world.”
Along with beautiful plants, Cactus Country has food options sorted, with guests able to relax in air-conditioned courtyards while sipping margaritas, eating delicious tacos or indulging in some succulent desserts including cactus cake and ice-cream.
For those inspired by the gardens, Cactus Country has a nursery with a wide-variety of plants for sale.
The venue, which has hosted a Masterchef Australia episode along with weddings and birthdays, also holds an annual Day of the Dead Festival complete with a Mariachi band and fire dancing.
“There aren’t many places in Australia with a landscape like ours, and our coloured courtyards have become a super popular spot for every kind of event,” Mr Hall said.
As for anyone wishing to check the place out, Mr Hall said Cactus Country was a place anyone could enjoy.
“Every year, the venue and gardens get better and better, and I’m sure at some stage, even the most anti-cactus garden person will be enticed to come say hello,” he said.
