AIM to embrace

A bouquet of flowers from Botanica Flowers and Plants Yarrawonga was presented to Nada Nolen following her speech at the AIM breakfast in Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort’s Willow Room recently.

The much-loved AIM Breakfast series celebrated its second last breakfast in its 10th year recently with a packed room of ladies at the Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort Willow Room.

The breakfast’s two speakers, Nada Nolen and Dr Wen Guha had very interesting stories to tell on their journeys in the agricultural sector.

Both speakers told of their early lives, growing up in a different country before moving to Australia or growing up here with family that had moved over years previous.

Nada spoke of her early years, growing up in a migrant family and experiencing city life as a child before moving to the countryside during her teenage years.

Now Nada is a devoted mother, passionate teacher, talented artist, and dedicated netball player with the Rennie Netball Club.

Dr Wen Guha from Yarrawonga Medical Clinic and Mulwala skin+GP clinic also spoke of her early years, being born in China and finishing medical school in the worlds largest country in 2002.

AIM committee member Bernadette McKenzie presents Dr Wen Guha with a bouquet after her insightful speech at the breakfast.

Dr Wen came to Australia in 2004 and completed her specialist training in Australia where she became a Rural GP generalist with special interest in anaesthesia and rural emergency.

“I love travelling and cooking in my spare time. I have always been amazed by the Australian women living in the country areas by their hard work, skills, and dedication to family,” Dr Wen said.

MC for the day Tracey Holgate thanked the women of Yarrawonga Mulwala for their support over the past as well as donating some funds to two worthwhile local causes.

“We are in our tenth year and it is outstanding for our community and for women in general so thank you for coming along,” Tracey said.

“We have now heard 60 diverse stories over 29 breakfasts. That is the beauty of it all.

“From the money from your tickets over the years we have been able to donate money to different organisations including Helping Hands and it was wonderful to see recently that this money has gone towards something so impactful such as a tilt-in-space wheelchair for residents at Karana.

“We all love these breakfasts and urge you to continue on our mantra of acknowledging, inspiring and mingling.”

The next AIM breakfast is scheduled to be held on November 22 at YMGCR’s Willow Room with further details to come in due course.
