Murray Valley Highway closed after fatal crash at Yalca

One person has died and two others were injured in a crash on the Murray Valley Hwy in Yalca on Tuesday, February 7.

Emergency services were called to Yalca, west of Cobram, just before 7.30am, at the highway’s intersection with Waaia-Bearii Rd.

According to police, it is understood a truck and car collided before the truck veered off the road and crashed into a tree.

The driver of the truck died at the scene.

A man in his 80s who was driving the car was taken to Goulburn Valley Health in a stable condition.

A female passenger also in her 80s was flown to the Royal Melbourne Hospital by air ambulance helicopter with serious injuries in a stable condition.

The Murray Valley Hwy is closed to traffic in both directions between the Goulburn Valley Hwy and Tyacks Rd.

Motorists are advised to use Katamatite-Nathalia Rd instead.

The section of highway is expected to be closed for hours while investigations are underway.
