Alessio Scalisi, his wife, Maddie, and two daughters, Rosalia and Luna, are at home in Kyabram.
Having met his wife in Melbourne, they decided to embark on a tree change, taking them to the heart of the Goulburn Valley.
That move was further entrenched last week when Alessio featured among a group of 15 people officially presented with Australian citizenship by Campaspe Shire Council at The Mill in Echuca.
Alessio met his wife in Melbourne in 2018, with the two quickly deciding on a life in northern Victoria.
“We’ve found a home in Kyabram, and we’re very happy living in the Campaspe Shire,” Mr Scalisi said.
“While I miss Italy, it’s difficult to go back as often as I would like when we have two young daughters, aged three and the second four months old.
Alessio often wondered what life would be like in Australia, and in 2016 took the plunge.
With a qualification in agricultural science, he knew he would be the perfect candidate for a new life Down Under.
He works in food production and is enjoying life as an Aussie.
“We have made a home on 1.5 acres with a few fruit trees and a veggie patch. We love the country life,” Mr Scalisi said.
“In late 2021, I received my permanent residency, and then last year, I applied for citizenship.
“I now consider Australia to be my second home. I love Australia. I truly love it.”
