Do you have what it takes to be a firefighter?

Fire Rescue Victoria has announced that its next round of recruitment will be opening very soon.

FRV is encouraging anyone who is interested in making a difference in the community to consider a career in firefighting, with acting commissioner Michelle Cowling saying that it is no ordinary job.

“Some jobs stand out for the profound impact they have on the community, and this is a great case in point,” she said.

“Firefighting is a highly respected profession and quickly becomes an extraordinary career.”

Firefighters receive world-class training and support, develop a broad skill set and earn various qualifications.

Career progression opportunities include specialisations such as Emergency Medical Response, Urban Search and Rescue, High Angle Rescue, Heavy Rescue, Road Crash Rescue and Marine Response.

Ms Cowling has emphasised the importance of diversity within the workforce for FRV.

“We want our workforce to reflect the diversity of the community we serve,” she said.

“Firefighting is an exciting and rewarding career for people from all walks of life.

Applications will be open from July 1 until July 8.
