All three major supermarket operators in Shepparton say their stores are remaining open despite the floods but Mooroopna’s Woolworths will still remain closed.

Coles confirmed its stores were open, and that 70 pallets of essential goods had been delivered to Shepparton over the weekend, plus 40 pallets of water.

“Coles and our team members have been working hard to keep the Shepparton community supplied with essential groceries and supplies,” a spokesperson said.

“Coles is working to support disaster relief centres to maintain supply of goods to Shepparton and the surrounding regions that have been impacted.”

Woolworths said both its stores were open in Shepparton, and there would be no purchase limits at this stage.

A Woolworths spokesperson asked customers to “only to buy the essentials items”.

“Our delivery teams are working hard to find alternate routes, and stock is continuing to arrive at our Shepparton stores daily. However, the restocking of some products on shelves may be delayed,” the spokesperson said.

“Our Shepparton stores remain open, and we ask customers to be mindful of others in the community and only buy what they need.

“We continue to monitor the situation closely, and our thoughts are with all communities who have been affected by the current flooding.”

Wooloworths said regarding their Mooroopna store, “our Mooroopna store is currently closed as road access has been cut off. We will work to reopen it as soon as it is safe to do so”.

IGA said both the Shepparton and Tatura stores would remain open, but it expected staff shortages due to the flooding.
