Allan St business caught up in illegal tobacco bust

A central Kyabram business has been caught up in a cross-town search warrant which saw $130,800 worth of illicit tobacco seized.

On Wednesday August 28, Campaspe police were seen inside a business on Allan St, a shop where illegal tobacco was allegedly sold, police said.

Campaspe Crime Investigation Unit has charged three people in relation to three search warrants conducted at two Echuca businesses and the Allan St business in Kyabram.

In total 86,000 sticks of illicit tobacco, 680 vapes and 36kg of loose tobacco were seized by police.

A 24-year-old Hoppers Crossing man was charged with two counts of possessing tobacco products with the intent of defrauding the revenue and dealing with property suspected to be the proceeds of crime.

A 73-year-old Roxburgh Park man was charged with two counts of possessing tobacco products with the intent of defrauding the revenue and dealing with property suspected to be the proceeds of crime.

The man was also charged with possessing Schedule 4 poison and advertising e-cigarettes.

Both men were bailed and are expected to appear at Echuca Magistrates’ Court in December.

She was bailed and is expected to appear at Echuca Magistrates’ Court in November.
