Mulwala resident all his life, businessman Andrew Kennedy, is seeking re-election as a councillor at the Federation Council election on Saturday, September 14.

He is a foundation councillor of the Federation Council, which was formed in 2016, after the amalgamation of Corowa and Urana Shires.

Mr Kennedy is the lead candidate on a five-person ticket for the election which includes Chanade Seiler, Nathan Parker, Robert Purtle OAM and Nicole Urquhart.

During his seven-plus years on council, he has seen continuing development in town.

“During this time, I have pushed for some major projects in Mulwala, including the all-abilities playground (Purtle Park Adventure Playground), Mulwala Industrial Estate and for medical services for Mulwala,” he said.

“I’m a big supporter also of assisting in medical services in Albury Wodonga which we don’t have. I would love to see some aged care and childcare facilities in Mulwala.

“I will be pushing for more development for Mulwala.”

With his two younger brothers, Cr Kennedy runs Kennedy Builders Mulwala which was started by his parents in 1974. The business proudly sponsors many sporting clubs in Mulwala and Yarrawonga.

He and wife, Leanne, have three sons, Jack, Tom and Ben.

Number 2 on the Kennedy ticket is Chanade Seiler, who is involved in real estate and in tourism. Chanade is a strong community supporter for Mulwala.

As are the remaining three candidates on the ticket, Nathan Parker, a building manager with Federation Transport in Mulwala, sales manager at Thales Nicole Urquhart and Robert Purtle OAM.

Mr Purtle, of course, is the long-term Mulwala Progress Association President who has a warning to people who don’t support the Kennedy ticket on election day.

“We need two candidates on council. If you don’t vote for the ticket, don’t come whinging to us about any lack of services in Mulwala,” he said.
