During a weekend of celebrations and activities in Avenel, local artist Angus Cameron presented his latest collection of art works, titled ‘Transition’.

The collection will be displayed in ARTBOX, in Jubilee Park, from Sunday, August 11 to Saturday, August 31.

After a rich career spanning years in Darwin’s art scene, Mr Cameron found his new muse in the charming town of Avenel.

His latest collection beautifully captures the essence of Strathbogie’s landscapes, bringing to life the intricate patterns and diverse ecosystems of our beloved region.

Mr Cameron’s art is a heartfelt tribute to nature’s beauty, mirroring the textures, shapes and patterns that define our local environment.

Drawing on his extensive experience as an art educator and facilitator, Mr Cameron is now channelling his creativity into captivating print artworks.

Strathbogie Shire Council administrator Peter Stephenson commended the ARTBOX initiative for its role in showcasing local talent and making art accessible to the community.

“Most artists have their studio walls filled with their work — ARTBOX has assisted them in bringing their work out of the studio to show their neighbours and the Strathbogie community,” Mr Stephenson said.

“We have been thrilled with the success of ARTBOX over its first year, and this next body of work from Angus Cameron has such depth, showcasing the natural elements of the region we all love.”

The earthy colours and fluid lines in Transition follow the highly successful display of Longwood’s Jenny Kelly’s precise flora and fauna botanical art, exhibited in ARTBOX.

Strathbogie Shire ARTBOX is supported by Creative Victoria grant funding.
