Aquamoves has announced that from the start of next term some of its swimming lessons will be cancelled.

Due to a shortage of qualified swimming instructors, the recreational centre has decided to cancel about one-third of its swimming lessons.

Council manager active living David Booth said recruiting new instructors was a high priority.

“Recruitment and training for new swimming instructors is in progress, but we want to make sure all individuals are ready to teach at the highest level, and training can take several months,” he said.

Mr Booth said the decision to reduce lessons was not an easy one, but was necessary to ensure the centre maintained its high standards.

“As our instructor numbers return to more sustainable levels we will reach back out to families to re-enrol their children back into the program,” Mr Booth said.

Council encourages qualified instructors interested in filling positions to contact Aquamoves on 5832 9400 or by emailing customerservice@aquamoves.com.au
