On Saturday, October 7, Nomad Art Collections brought the exhibition Waterworks to Avenel’s Jubilee Park.
The collection looks at the diverse ways artists explore the notion of water.
The gallery showcased a selection of screenprints, etchings and linocuts from artists all over Australia.
Nomad Art curator Angus Cameron said the pieces were selected to represent diverse regions nationwide.
“The works range from depictions of the sea, living water in the desert, ceremonial associations, groundwater and environmental perspectives,” he said.
The theme, Watermarks, came from a desire to commemorate the anniversary of floods in Victoria last year.
“Watermarks seemed a pertinent focus and a means to highlight cultural and geographical diversity across our vast country,” Mr Cameron said.
ARTBOX is a Strathbogie Shire Council initiative to provide a diverse and engaging annual exhibition program.
ARTBOX was initially situated in Euroa but has been in Avenel since Sunday and will stay for two months.
Nomad Art Gallery applied for the space for October because of its concept.
“We like the concept of ARTBOX as a publicly accessible space, which allows 24-hour viewing and direct engagement with the public,” Mr Cameron said.
The Watermarks exhibit in ARTBOX by Nomad Art will run until Sunday, October 22.
