The street art capital of regional Australia will come alive for one week from March 21 with the much-anticipated return of the re-branded Benalla Street Art Festival.

Just an hours drive from Seymour, the festival will feature world-class artists, incredible murals, live music and much more.

From an art perspective the rural city’s walls and laneways will be transformed into a vibrant alfresco gallery with 15 local, national and international artists.

Curated by Eddie Zammit, who brings more than 20 years’ experience in the arts, and supported by Benalla Rural City Council and the Victorian Government, the week-long extravaganza is not to be missed.

Benalla Mayor Danny Claridge said he was delighted to welcome the return of the refreshed street art festival to Benalla.

“We are delighted to announce the 2024 artist line-up for this year’s Benalla Street Art Festival, which includes three international artists and three returning from previous festivals,” Cr Claridge said.

The confirmed artists are Tim Bowtell, David Bromley, Buff Diss, Melanie Caple, Tommy Day, DXTR, Lisa King, David Lee Pereira, Minna Leunig, Merda, Travis Price, REKA, Sofles, Amanda Valdes and Neryl Walker.

While some of those names are more well-known than others, a quick google search will show you an array of talented artists with a range of spectacular works.

“Our city streets and lanes will be abuzz with colour and movement in the weeklong celebration, which will include immersive art experiences, guided street art tours, exhibitions, artist talks, a street art cinema, and a central Festival hub with live music and visitor servicing,” Cr Claridge said.

Cr Claridge thanked the Victorian Government, Festival sponsors, local businesses, volunteers, Advisory Committee members and staff for their hard work in supporting the return of the much-loved Benalla Street Art Festival in 2024.

“Iconic events such as the Street Art Festival are only made possible thanks to the tireless work and commitment of our sponsors and supporters, the wider community and efforts from local businesses and volunteers,” He said.

“After all the hard work behind the scenes, it is now our town’s time to shine and let the artwork speak for itself.”

The refreshed Benalla Street Art Festival 2024 will be held from Thursday, March 21, to Thursday, March 28.

The Festival is supported by the Victorian Government through its Regional Events Fund.
