Art show entries now open

Young local artist Scout McKenzie was second in the 2023 watercolour ink and wash category.

We might all be in Christmas mode right now, but artists are already being asked to think ahead to Easter.

Entries opened this week for the 31st annual Deniliquin Easter Art Show.

Brought to you by the Rotary Club of Deniliquin and Edward River Art Society each year, the exhibition will run from Good Friday, March 29 to Easter Monday, April 1 in 2024.

This popular annual event attracts an enthusiastic audience of art buyers and appreciators across the Easter long weekend.

In 2024 there are eight sections offering a a prize for best artwork, and a Highly Commended.

The total prize pool is $14,000.

Entry categories are:

• Works on paper: including watercolour, pastels, ink & wash, pens, pencils, charcoal - $800 prize

• Oils - $800 prize

• Acrylics - $800 prize

• Mixed medium - $800 prize

• Miniature and small paintings: A5 size or less in size - $800 prize

• 3D art works - $800 prize

• Black & White Photography - $400 prize

• Colour Photography - $400 prize

In addition to the section prizes, artists can nominate entry into the open prizes:

• Acquisitive prizes: There are three acquisitive prizes, with the winning paintings going to one of our sponsors - $2000 each

• Local scene prize: depicting Deniliquin and district with recognisable subject matter - $800 prize

• Local artist prize: artist residing within 50km of Deniliquin - $800 prize

• Young artist prize: artist aged 12-18 years old - $500 prize

• People’s choice prize: voted by Art Show visitors - $300 prize
