Murray River Council has revealed the finalists for the River Country Art Trail, a project set to transform water towers and Tooleybuc’s Mensforth Park into artistic landmarks.
After extensive community engagement and a tough selection process, artists DULK, Twoone, Heesco, Gus Eagleton and Stuart Green have been chosen to take on the project.
Spanish artist DULK is set to begin the first installation on Sunday, November 17, as he takes on Mathoura’s water tower.
Japanese-born artist Twoone will begin his mural on Moama’s tower on Friday, December 6.
Both installations are expected to be wrapped up by Christmas, adding a new attraction for visitors during the holiday season.
As for the installations in Barham, Moulamein and Tooleybuc, works will begin in early 2025.
Mayor John Harvie said council was looking forward to installations, which would be a positive addition to the respective communities.
“This project will not only enrich our towns’ visual landscapes but is also set to boost local tourism, offering a distinctive attraction for visitors exploring River Country,” he said.
“Council looks forward to the final results and invites everyone to celebrate these new cultural icons as they pop up in our towns.”
The River Country Art Trail, externally funded by a $1.7 million investment from the NSW Government’s Regional Tourism Activation Fund, is dedicated to enhancing tourism infrastructure across NSW.
As artists are completing their works, council asks community members to be respectful of their time and space.
