“A blank canvas” is how well-known mural artist Damien Mitchell addressed the western wall of the Finley School of Arts when he started painting on Sunday.

His mural has been commissioned specifically to celebrate the building’s 120th anniversary, ahead of celebrations this weekend.

He’ll continue this week, and is more than happy to have people come to watch him working and ask questions.

The mural is expected to be completed by Saturday, during the anniversary celebrations.

Damien is the artist behind some of Finley’s other amazing murals, including the scene at the nearby Finley Bowling Club completed in 2020.

Another of his artworks was added in Tuppal St in the same year, and he also created the Merino mural at the Tuppal Hotel in 2018.

Damien’s art is internationally renowned, and he shares his time between Australia and America.
