Community groups across Campaspe Shire have planned a variety of events to take place on Australia Day this year.
Campaspe Shire Mayor Rob Amos commended the community groups on their organisation of the proceedings.
“The clubs and committees within the community who organise these events are a testament to the community spirit that exists across the shire,” Cr Amos said.
“As well as more traditional proceedings such as flag-raising and Australia Day Award presentations, there are events throughout the day ranging from barbecue breakfasts and guest speakers to yabby races, kids’ fishing competitions, games and music.”
“We will also welcome 24 new Australians to our community at the Citizenship Ceremony in Echuca.”
“After a challenging period over recent months, I encourage Campaspe Shire residents to come together and celebrate their local communities.”
