Australia Day preparations under way

Tradition continues: Rotary Club of Seymour members will again be cooking up a storm for Australia Day celebration attendees. Photo by Wayne Herring

The closure of Kings Park has meant a change of locations for the Seymour Australia Day celebrations, but that will not stop the good times.

In a break from tradition, this year’s event will be held at Chittick Park.

The day kicks off at 8am with a big Aussie breakfast run by Rotary.

A key feature of the event, the citizenship ceremony, will be held at 11am as a chance to celebrate the new Australian citizens of Mitchell Shire.

The ceremony, which moves from town to town within the shire, will be held in Seymour this year, with about 40 people set to receive their citizenship.

It will be a family-friendly day, with plenty of activities for the kids, including a jumping castle, face painting, sheep shearing and the Seymour Gift Foot Race.
