Ambience Cafe found a unique way to celebrate two staff members welcoming babies into the world last week - with $1 doughnuts and churros for all.

Cafe owner, Renee Lincoln, said that the genesis of the day was to celebrate such a special occasion.

Ms Lincoln said all money raised would go to the creation of vouchers which would allow struggling parents to come in and have a free coffee.

She is also planning on creating care packages, which will have essential items in them. These can also be picked up using the vouchers.

The operation for Baby Day was large, to say the least, with the Ambience Cafe making roughly 500 doughnuts and about 60 churros - and they flew off the shelves.

"We started off the day with one lady who bought 80 doughnuts straight up," Ms Lincoln said.

This isn't the cafe’s first charitable event, holding a Rainbow Mental Health Charity Day earlier this year.

For Ms Lincoln, holding events such as Rainbow Mental Health Charity Day or Baby Day is her way of giving back to the local community.

"I've wanted to be in a situation where I can help out. I don't have time to do Meals on Wheels or the blood bank, and all those other charities," she said.

"So one of the reasons why I get enjoyment out of having my own businesses is that I can do it within my business while I'm here and target personal things within the area."
