The man charged over the deaths of four people in a crash at Pine Lodge in January has had his bail extended during a hearing in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court.

Harinder Singh, 41, of Shepparton, has been charged with four counts of dangerous driving causing the death of his four passengers.

The four people who died in the crash have been named as Baljinder Singh, Harpel Singh, Bhupinder Sandu and Krishen Singh. They were visiting from overseas at the time of the crash.

Mr Singh is also facing a charge of failing to stop for a stop sign at Pine Lodge North Rd where it intersects with Cosgrove-Lemnos Rd.

The crash occurred about 4.45pm on January 4 when a car and a ute collided at the intersection.

The other driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Mr Singh suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

He was granted a one-month extension of his bail by magistrate Kieran Gilligan in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, June 8, to allow his newly appointed lawyer to familiarise himself with the case and to hold discussions with the prosecution.

His lawyer, Jack Hurley, said Mr Singh had also recently been granted legal aid.

Mr Gilligan extended bail for a committal case conference in July.

Mr Singh, who was accompanied by his sister, did not speak during the court appearance, except to his sister and lawyer at times.
