Collect your coins and put on your comfiest shoes ― it’s time to go hunting for a bargain at this weekend’s Regional Rummage.
Back for its fourth iteration, the Regional Rummage is giving shoes, wallets, hats, clothes ― the list goes on ― a second life on Sunday, July 10.
A Tatura local, Regional Rummage creator Nicole Morse said when on the lookout for a venue in 2020, she couldn’t go past her home town hall.
“We went into Victory Hall and thought, ‘if we sell this out that’ll be pretty cool’,” she said.
“That first market, we sold 89 stalls.
“I just remember standing there on the day being like, this is insane.”
Since the first market, Miss Morse has had hundreds of patrons go through every couple of months, fetching up a cheap buy and hopefully helping the planet a little at the same time.
The market is a gold coin donation on entry with proceeds going toward a new charity each time.
In alignment with NAIDOC Week, funds will go toward not-for-profit Dhadjowa Foundation, which provides support to First Nations families who have had family die in custody.
Miss Morse said past markets had donated more than $400.
Sunday’s rummage is set to have a coffee stall and food truck for market-goers to indulge in, along with a range of more than 40 stalls.
Miss Morse said all people needed to bring was a bag, some cash and a keen eye for a good find.
“The fact it has been steady despite all that has happened is great,” she said.
“The demand for stalls has increased, now we’re just trying to get more customers through the doors.”
