Barooga claims big win

Katty Tigers lost to Barooga, continuing a mixed season of wins and losses for the side.

Katty faced Barooga at Barooga on Remembrance Day, but it wasn’t a day to remember for the Tigers.

The Tigers won the toss and elected to bat, making 10-89, which was chased down by Barooga, the home side finishing on 1-93.

Sam Gordon was Katty’s best batter, making 22 before being caught, with Brandon Nicholls Katty’s second-best, scoring 12 before also being caught.

Tail-end batter Mark Haberfield finished the innings not out on 10.

Barooga Cricket Club’s best batter was Benjamin Beaumont, who made an excellent 47 not out.

Kale Watkins made 16 runs before being bowled out by Katty’s Kepler Lukies, who took the only wicket for the team. Cooper Adkins made 14 not out.

Barooga’s Nathan Gossayn made one run before retiring.

Tocumwal had no luck at home, falling to Nathalia by one wicket to finish with a score of 10-120 to 4-121.

Tocumwal’s Peter Harrison made a decent 29 runs, followed by Tom Oliver with 24.

Andrew Lean was Tocumwal’s best bowler, taking two wickets, followed by Tom White and Andrew Arthur, who took one wicket each.

Nathalia’s top-order batter, Liam Evans, made an impressive 61 runs before being taken out by fielder Peter Harrison and bowler Andrew Lean.

Nathalia’s first batter, Scotty Morris, was the second-highest scorer, making 12 runs before being caught by Michael Roberts off the bowling of Andrew Arthur.

Dylan Cunningham and Liam Evans were Nathalia’s best bowlers, each taking three wickets, while Brenton Campbell claimed two wickets.

Round six will see Barooga play at home against Nathalia, while Katamatite takes on Berrigan on its home ground.

Cobram Tigers will play away, facing Deniliquin.

Nathalia leads the Murray Valley Cricket Association ladder after round five.

Barooga is a close second, followed by Cobram, while Berrigan and Finley sit at the bottom of the league.
