Yvonne Laffan has been awarded the Helen Keller fellowship, acknowledging and celebrating her long and dedicated service to Lions International and the Barooga community as a whole.
Chris Mitchell, the club secretary for Barooga Lions Club, said Yvonne was joined by fellow Lions members and her beloved family members to receive the award.
Yvonne has provided more than 40 years of volunteer service, from organising multiple annual deb balls to running local street stalls. Her impact on her community has truly been noted.
The annual deb balls are highly anticipated events each year, and this year is no exception.
Mr Mitchell wants to remind the community that there are only a few places available to attend this year’s deb ball, which will be held on Saturday, October 26, at the Cobram Civic Centre.
Anyone interested in making their debut is advised to contact Barooga Lions Club via its Facebook page, as dance practice will commence soon.
