The future of Barooga Football Club is in good hands thanks to the efforts of its youth girls team.

Round four of the Northern Country Women’s League saw the Barooga Youth Girls squad take on Nathalia at Nathalia Recreation Reserve on Friday, April 26.

The Barooga squad entered the match with high confidence, and it showed.

By half-time, Barooga had a two-goal lead, expanding this to six goals by the end of the match. The final score was 38-2.

Barooga’s standout players were Miah Hood, Evelyn McCallum, Taylar Knight, Lara Hayes, Taylor Waldron and Nakiyah Fraser.

Meanwhile, Nathalia’s best were Bella Cavallaro, Tayah Lundberg, Claudia Plattfuss, Matilda Waser, Ruby McIver and Layla Haberfield.

Round five will see the Barooga Youth Girls, who currently sit fifth on the ladder, face Shepparton United at home.

If it was joy for the junior team, but the same couldn’t be said for the Barooga women’s senior team when they faced Mansfield at Bonnie Doon Recreation Reserve.

Their rivals dominated the contest, overwhelmingly defeating the locals, 89-8.

Mansfield’s Asha Foubister and Mim Davidson were the game’s top goalscorers, kicking three each.

Meanwhile, Barooga’s only goal scorer was Georgia Konstantellos.

The Barooga women's senior team is sixth on the ladder.
