Safety concerns: Berrigan Shire Council plans to install CCTV cameras across Barooga as part of a push to ensure community safety.

Barooga is set to have CCTV cameras installed across town as part of Berrigan Shire Council’s efforts to ensure community safety.

Council will install CCTV cameras at Barooga Adventure Park and Barooga Botanical Gardens as well as Finley Railway Park and Finley Foundry Park.

Locations where chosen due to a history of the sites being vandalised.

Council understands residents may have privacy concerns. The council will accept submissions regarding these sites from the public until Friday, February 24 at 5pm.

Submissions can be made at mail@berriganshire.nsw.gov.au or by contacting the council’s administration office at 56 Chanter St, Berrigan.

Council intends to install more CCTV cameras at sites in coming years and is looking for suggestions on suitable sites with public input welcome.

If you have a suggestion on a suitable site, please email mail@berriganshire.nsw.gov.au to make a submission.

Your email, marked attention to Rohit Srivastava, should include where you think CCTV should be installed and why you think it may be required.
