As schools prepare for the long summer break, Campaspe Shire libraries have planned activities to keep children’s minds active and offer parents a cool retreat from the heat in January.

Along with the expected fun activities usually scheduled for school holidays in the library, the libraries have also posed a reading challenge to ambitious readers.

The Big Summer Read motivates children and teens up to 18 years old to dive into books, tracking their reading journey and achievements along the way.

Readers who reach 10 books over the summer break could be in the running for some wonderful prizes to be given out throughout the month.

Independent and non-independent readers are eligible to enter, including those who use audio to read and parents who read out loud to children.

The Big Summer Read challenge will run from December 1 to January 31 with registration forms available at any Campaspe Shire library or online at https://readbooks.com.au/bsr

But, before that, keep the kids busy these summer school holidays and find some excellent air conditioning at the Campaspe Shire libraries for their summer activities.

Campaspe Shire libraries will be closed from Tuesday, December 24 to Thursday, Janurary 2, but after hours returns and online resources will remain available.
