When Benalla’s Holly Chisolm was looking for live music in the Rose City she found her options limited.

So, spotting an obvious gap in the market, she called time on her job in retail and set about planning some events.

And where better to start than by promoting her Dad’s band Fast 59.

Regulars on the Melbourne scene, and well known on the border for their gigs up in Albury/Wodonga, the band is yet to play in Benalla.

But thanks to Holly’s hard work, they are now set to rock the Benalla Bowls Club on Friday, October 7.

“There is so little live music in Benalla,” Holly said.

“I’ve always wanted to get into the entertainment industry so I thought now was the time.”

Holly said she would use the event to gauge interest in the live music scene in Benalla, and if it goes well the sky’s the limit.

“Fast 59 have been pretty successful since forming in 2016,” she said.

“COVID stopped them performing for a while, but they have started up again and have been gigging around Melbourne.

“They are a three-piece band who will be playing lots of rock ’n roll classics, as well as a few of their own songs.”

Holly asked to thank local business Dominant Detailing for its generosity in helping her get the event up and running.

Early bird tickets are available in advance from Benalla Bowls Club for $15. You can buy a ticket on the night, subject to availability, for $20.
