A crowd gathered outside Bendigo Bank in Benalla on Saturday, December 7 to see who would be walking away with some great prizes.

The winner of the Hospital Auxiliary Christmas Stocking for 2024 was Stephen Walker.

He was there with his grandson and both were overjoyed to receive the first prize in the raffle.

The moment felt like déjà vu for Stephen’s wife, Julie, who had also accepted the winning Christmas stocking years ago with her grandfather, adding a special touch of nostalgia to the occasion.

A Benalla Health spokesperson said, once again, members of the Hospital Auxiliary excelled themselves, selling 4000 tickets and raising over $7000, which was the most they had raised in more than 13 years.

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Benalla community for their unwavering support of our local health service,” the spokesperson said.

“Your generous contributions through ticket purchases and donations from local businesses are invaluable in ensuring that Benalla Health can uphold its commitment to delivering the best care to every person every time.

“Thank you for being a vital part of our mission to provide the best possible healthcare services to our community.”
