It was a day of fun and dressing up at Benalla P-12 College’s Waller and Avon St campuses on Friday, August 5 as the Preps celebrated their first 100 days of school.

Parents embraced the occasion with students all looking amazing, dressed up as 100-year-olds.

Benalla P-12 College, Avon St Foundation teacher Siobhan Higgins said it was crucial to get parents involved.

“Bringing back parents and families into the school community after COVID really is another reason to celebrate,” Ms Higgins said.

Benalla P-12 College, Waller St Foundation teacher Kim Rae agreed.

“It takes a team effort to get the kids ready every day, so the parents are also being celebrated,” Ms Rae said.

“This marks 100 days of getting them up in the morning. It marks 100 days of making their breakfast and packing their lunches.

“And, of course, all they do to support their learning at home like reading with them.”

Both campuses had a variety of activities based on the number 100 planned.

“We are going to do some 100 days of STEM activities,” Ms Rae said.

“We’re making 100 day crowns. We’re having a 100 day party, and a 100 day number hunt.

“We are going to have a special assembly and present all the students with certificates

“And they will do a task where they will write about what they want to be doing when they’re 100 years old.”

To round out the day of celebrations the Year 3/4 students gave the young Preps a guard of honour.
