Students from Benalla P-12 College and FCJ College took part in a day of activities at the Glasshouse recently for an incredibly important reason.

The 48 students are this year’s Live4Life Crew and were learning all about mental health first aid on Wednesday, February 21.

A Benalla Rural City Council spokesperson said crew members are engaged, active and invested in the mental health education and literacy of their peers and the wider community.

“They become mental health advocates and Live4Life ambassadors,” the spokesperson said.

“The crew provides young people with the opportunity to be leaders in their local area and to advocate for mental health support and education in an ongoing and empowering way.”

Crew members spent the induction getting to know one another through fun icebreakers, as well as learning more about the Live4Life program and teen mental health first aid.

“The crew will spend the year planning and running events, including the Live4Life launch and celebration, for Year 8 students,” the spokesperson said.

“(They) will complete their teen mental health first aid training, as well as internal school activities that act to promote good mental health.”

Live4Life Benalla is supported by a partnership that includes Benalla P-12 College, FCJ College Benalla, the Flexible Learning Centre, Benalla Health, the Tomorrow Today Foundation, NESAY, NE Tracks LLEN and is led by Benalla Rural City Council.
