More than 120 locals enjoyed a night of music and laughter at the Glasshouse on Friday, August 25.

Talented local musicians Adam Toms and Catherine Burton led locals in the Redgum Rooms to perform a version of Journey’s Don’t Stop Believing.

It was the second Small Town Sing event this year, with many locals discussing how much fun the immersive choir experience was.

Janene Humphries came along with her daughter and some friends.

“To be honest, I didn’t think singing in public was my cup of tea,” Ms Humphries said.

“But we’ve had a fantastic time. It was just a lot of fun.

“My daughter and her friend were keen to come, and it’s in support of a cause that is very dear to me, so, of course, we’re here with bells on.”

That cause is Tomorrow Today, Benalla’s community foundation, which supports local children and young people through the Education Benalla Program and the broader community through its grants programs.

Tomorrow Today Executive Officer Rosie Koop said the foundation was grateful to Adam and Catherine for the vast amount of time and effort they put into making the evening such a success.

“And also to the Benalla Saints for providing the venue and managing the ticketing,” Ms Koop said.

“Events like Small Town Sing show just how generous the people of Benalla are.

“It’s their support that helps Tomorrow Today continue to do the work it does,”

“The money raised goes towards educational programs like Parents Early Education Partnership and Connect9.

“(It also provides) direct financial assistance for families to help with their children’s education and extra-curricular activity costs,

“And back to the local community through our annual grants and Stepping Stones programs.”

The crowd had the chance to see the impact of the work Tomorrow Today does in a short video screened on the night.

“Tomorrow Today makes a huge difference in the Benalla community,” Mr Toms said.

“Their focus on youth is close to our hearts, so we wanted to help support the foundation.

“We’re proud to have raised over $4000 for the foundation through these events.

“But, outside of raising money, Small Town Sing is about bringing people together to connect using the power of music.

“I think everyone will agree they’ve been part of something special.”
