Benalla Migrants Association is busily preparing for the Rose City’s biggest Diwali celebration to date.

The event will kick off the Benalla Festival and take place at the ceramic mural on Friday, November 3, from 6.30pm.

Come and see beautiful light projections, including mandala designs decorated by Benalla locals.

A BMA spokesperson said Akhila Fernando from Artmore would illuminate the mural with Diwali-themed artwork.

“While across the lake, Benalla Art Gallery will light up as the canvas for the Little Projector Company’s amazing Diwali projections,” the spokesperson said.

Attendees can participate in these light shows in real time through animated light painting on touch screens.

Entertainment will be provided by SurMilan, a famous and popular Indian band from Melbourne, belting out Diwali tunes for everyone to enjoy.

“Why not try out some henna artwork on your hands and arms with the help of Akshar Henna, who will share their beautiful designs on the night,” the spokesperson said.

“For the kids, face painting will be provided free of charge, along with jumping castles and other entertainment.

“Benalla Migrants Association is especially looking forward to sharing gulab jamun and laddu sweets with all attendees.

“Everyone is welcome, so come and join us for this special event.”
