Benalla Police have welcomed a new Local Area Commander, who is eager to engage with the community.
Inspector Rachael Goss started her role covering police stations in Benalla, Mansfield, Alexandra, Eildon, Jamieson, Kinglake, Woods Point, Mt Buffalo, Marysville, and Yea.
A Victoria Police spokesperson said Inspector Goss has diverse experience in operational roles across metropolitan areas.
“Frontline policing roles have provided her some of the most rewarding times of her career,” the spokesperson said.
“She truly values being of service to the community and hopes that she can sometimes make a difference.”
Inspector Goss has led frontline teams across metropolitan Melbourne, including specialist units focussed on safety and well-being, training, intelligence, strategic planning, risk management and road policing.
She is particularly passionate about road safety and is committed to educating the public on safe driving habits.
“Inspector Goss has also worked as a law instructor and other training roles across the organisation,” the spokesperson said.
“She has enjoyed the opportunity to teach, guide, mentor and lead training teams that have gone on to help build knowledge and skills in junior members.”
Inspector Goss derives immense professional gratification from fostering the growth and development of her team members supporting them in their community service roles.
Outside of work Inspector Goss loves to spend time with her family and friends.
She enjoys travelling to events and festivals, particularly those that involve country music.
“Inspector Goss has recently started enjoying camping trips with friends and is an avid snow skier,” the spokesperson said.
Keen for a change of scenery, she found north-east Victoria offered an ideal blend of lifestyle benefits and professional opportunities.
Inspector Goss said she feels fortunate to work with remarkable people and to serve communities across three local government areas.
