The Benalla Yarnbombers group is busy planning its display for 2023, which will brighten the CBD throughout August.
The group’s ethos of upcycling and recycling will continue this year with many favourites returning — some of which will get a clean-up and revitalisation.
Group member Joy Shirley said it had recently become an incorporated organisation.
“That will make it easier to apply for funding and grants,” Ms Shirley said.
"We’ll have some new bollard covers this year and we’re looking at renewing some of the beanies where we can’t put a full cover on, in areas like the corner of Bridge and Carrier Sts which has chains linking the bollards.
“Some we’ve been using for five years and they’re starting to fade a bit.
"And we are replacing a few others this year, as well as creating some brand new bollard covers.
“The Minions that survived last year will be back, Bluey and friends will be back as well as the prince, princesses and the witches.
“And we’ve got some surprises this year.“
The footprint of the yarnbombing will predominantly be on Bridge St in the CBD.
However, Ms Shirley said depending on how many pieces they end up with, there could be some installations in Nunn and Carrier Sts.
“And we always invite people in the community to participate,” she said.
