The impressive display on Benalla’s Uniting Church is the work of the Benalla Yarners who enjoy knitting away each week.

The group is currently seeking new members, so if you’d like to help create next year’s display, just pop along to one of their weekly meetings and say hi.

Not to be confused with the Benalla Yarnbombers, the Benalla Yarners are a small group which decided to join in this year.

If you walked down Carrier St in August, you may have enjoyed the pop of seaside colour that brightened the long winter days.

Val Stafford started the group in 2019, and crafters of all ages and styles enjoy taking part.

The important group helped sustain Benalla’s crafting community through COVID lockdowns.

The colourful seaside installation on Carrier took a team effort for several months.

It was the culmination of many biscuits, debates and discussions, especially from Nangi, the Yarners’ youngest member at four years old.

If you want to learn more, the Yarners meet every Tuesday at the Uniting Church from 1pm.
