It’s official: Benalla has some of the best tasting tap water in the state.
The Rose City’s water supply made the grand final of the Water Industry Operators Association of Australia Victorian best tasting tap water competition for 2023.
Water authorities around Australia enter their local tap water into state competitions around the country.
The winner of each then competes for the title of best tap water in Australia. The winner of that then goes on to compete in the international water testing competition.
North East Water Managing Director Jo Murdoch said she was extremely proud that Benalla’s drinking water supply made the grand finals of Victoria’s best tasting tap water.
“Industry peers judged the town’s water based on aroma, clarity and taste, and found that it was up there with the best in the state,” Ms Muirdoch said.
“This is great recognition for not only our Benalla operators who make great water every day, it’s is a celebration of the work that’s done by all of our operators across the north-east region.”
