Bendigo ballot order drawn

Ahead of next month’s federal election, the ballot orders for each electorate were drawn on Friday, April 11.

Ten candidates were confirmed for the Division of Bendigo, the electorate Rochester was redistributed to in September 2024.

The Division of Bendigo also includes Elmore, Goornong, Milloo and Bonn.

Six of the 10 candidates for the Division of Bendigo were at the draw, which was held in Bendigo’s central business district at noon.

The Australian Electoral Commission determines ballot orders through a bingo-style process.

Numbered balls are placed into a container, rotated and drawn by a blindfolded AEC representative.

Candidate Avery Barnett-Dacey's child rotates the container. Members of the public, including candidates, are invited to participate in the process.

The order is as follows:

  1. Evelyn Keetelaar, Family First Party Australia
  2. Avery Barnett-Dacey, Australian Greens
  3. Heather Freeman, Pauline Hanson's One Nation
  4. Lisa Chesters, Australian Labor Party
  5. Andrew Lethlean, National Party of Australia
  6. Matthew Bansemer, Libertarian Party
  7. Rohan Tyler, Victorian Socialists
  8. David Vincent, Independent
  9. Wayne Taylor, Legalise Cannabis Australia
  10. Matthew Evans, Liberal Party of Australia
Candidates David Vincent (Independent), Avery Barnett-Dacey (Greens), Matthew Evans (Liberal), Lisa Chesters (Labor), Andrew Lethlean (Nationals) and Rohan Tyler (Victorian Socialists).

The federal election is set for Saturday, May 3. Polling places are open from 8am to 6pm, located at:

Rochester Secondary College, Edward St, Rochester.

Elmore Community Hub, 3 Clarke St, Elmore.

Goornong Community Centre, 32 Bagshot St, Goornong.

Early voting for the Divion of Bendigo is offered at St Mary's Parish Centre Echuca, 222-230 Anstruther St, Echuca.

It will be open from 8.30am to 5.30pm, from Tuesday, April 22, to Thursday, April 24.

On Saturday, April 26, it is open from 9am to 4pm.

From Monday, April 28, to Thursday, May 1, it is open from 8.30am to 5.30pm

On Friday, May 2, it is open from 8.30am to 6pm.

For the Division of Nicholls, which includes Lockington, Nanneella, Strathallan, Bamawm, Corop, candidates are:

  3. Glen Francis Floyd, Trumpet of Patriots
  4. Aarron Tyrrell, Pauline Hanson's One Nation

The Nicholls ballot draw was held in Shepparton on Friday.
