Residents are being warned to avoid direct contact with water in Shepparton’s Parkside Gardens Estate wetlands after high levels of blue-green algae were detected.

Greater Shepparton City Council recommended people and pets stay out of the impacted water near Parkside Dve and, if they did come into contact with the water, to wash the affected skin immediately in clean cold water.

Warning signs will be positioned at major recreational areas around the wetlands and remain in place while high levels of blue-green algae are present, however, the wetlands will not be closed to the public.

Water users from Parkside Gardens Estate Wetlands should find an alternative water supply.
