Boat trailer stolen near Tongala

A FATHER and son were left stranded after their boat trailer was stolen while fishing near Tongala on Wednesday, May 12.

Jason McKinley and his son Joshua had taken out their new boat to go fishing one last time for the season, parking their 4.2m galvanised boat trailer at Yambuna bridge.

Between noon and 8pm, thieves broke into the back of Jason's white Hilux ute and stole his boat cover and spare tyre as well as the trailer.

‘‘We were out fishing and when we came back, the trailer was gone, leaving us stranded with the boat, which we needed to get back to Bendigo,’’ Jason said.

‘‘We had to drive another trailer from Bendigo to pick it up.’’

Jason said he was extremely disappointed about losing the trailer, but praised Kyabram police for being ‘‘extremely helpful’’.

Police are investigating and are appealing to anyone who has seen the trailer to come forward.

The trailer, registration C21214, has Bendigo Marine Sales printed on the side and a Toolybuc sticker, as well as new black Leaf Springs tyres.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Kyabram police on 5853 1777 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
