NSW police have found the body believed to be that of missing Shepparton teenager Jack Bird.

Police located a body at about 6.30pm on Thursday in Kyffins Bay on Lake Mulwala.

As of Thursday night it was yet to be formally identified.

Police and emergency services had been searching for the 16-year-old since he went missing when he and a second 16-year-old boy fell out of a boat at Lake Mulwala on Sunday, December 11.
