Discover the hidden treasures of Greater Shepparton’s rich cultural heritage by joining the upcoming Heritage Open Days event.

On Friday, May 12 and Saturday, May 13 more than 40 iconic and rarely accessible sites across the region will open their doors to visitors, showcasing the diverse and unique history of the Goulburn Valley.

To make the most of your visit, don’t forget to book your spot in advance for the exciting bus trips, walking tours and visits to some of our oldest and most significant locations.

Some tours are already in high demand, so be sure to secure your place early to avoid missing out.

One tour you won’t want to miss is the ‘Gateway to the GV’ bus tour, which takes you to the former Moorilim Catholic Church and Days Mill.

Witness the traditional milling technology in working order in its original setting, and learn about the region’s rich history.

Another popular bus tour is the ‘Mosques and Temple Tour,’ which will take you to the region’s four mosques and the Sikh temple.

Explore the unique architectural features and cultural significance of these landmarks.

For those who prefer a slower pace, walking tours will be available in Shepparton, Mooroopna, Tatura and Murchison.

You can also visit many venues independently; but remember, bookings are essential for some of these locations.

The first Heritage Open Days event in 2017 was a massive success, with over 1100 participants participating across the two days.

The Heritage Open Days event is made possible by the generosity of the venue owners, proprietors and sponsors such as Dyson Group and Prominent Group.

A booklet with full details of all tours is available on council’s website.

You can also grab a hard copy in the council office foyer, local libraries and the Greater Shepparton Visitor Centre.

Don’t miss this fantastic opportunity to explore the region’s cultural heritage.

Visit www.greatershepparton.com.au or call council’s Building, Planning, and Compliance Department on 5832 9700 for more information.

Early bookings are essential, so secure your spot today and get ready for an unforgettable experience.
