Mathoura’s famous Bra Fence, which provides significant support to cancer sufferers having to travel for treatment, is now seeking assistance to continue its great work.

The group will be holding its annual fundraiser on May 25 and would welcome any donations of goods for sale, to raffle or anything else that will assist them in their charitable work.

Many of you will know former local Barb Anderson, but even I was surprised with her Facebook appearance earlier this week.

Having successfully completed months of cancer treatment, she was just a smidge disappointed about the date of the final surgery.

This centered on the fact that it coincided with the Deniliquin Anzac Day Races — one of the favorite events on her social calendar.

So after paying her respects to the diggers past and present, she gave a commentary on what she was wearing - her hospital outfit.

It consisted of a lovely green striped short and blouse combo, black Billabong thongs with a diamante, and a stylish large black Wonder Woman clutch bag.

The outfit was completed with headgear of flowers from the garden in a paper cup, as suggested by a friend.

God only knows how she is going to top this at next year's races.

I don't know what the hospital staff thought of the performance, but to her many friends in Deni it was just Barb being Barb.

Did you catch up with the machinery from yesteryear the other day?

Over two days, on Friday and Saturday, tractors and their owners trekked in our direction as part of the National Historical Machinery Association’s National Tractor Convention held in Deniliquin.

They certainly were made to last weren’t they.
