Hotel Rochester hosted its 40th Rotary Club ‘Community Chat’ Breakfast on Thursday, May 16, an opportunity for local groups and businesses to catch-up.

Supported by mental health support service Mind Australia, attendees enjoyed complimentary coffee, tea and breakfast.

A range of organisations and clubs shared updates and plans with attendees, including the CWA, Rochester Primary School, police and CCLLEN.

The guest speaker was Rochester Secondary College principal, Matt Koutroubas. He introduced himself and spoke about his background, providing insight into his experience as an educator and how he ended up in Rochy.

Mr Koutroubas answered questions from the crowd and discussed student events held this year. He shared plans for the school community, like the four-yearly school review taking place next term.

Upcoming community initiatives discussed included the new noticeboard and calendar in front of Cottam's Family Butchers; the Winter Solstice Twilight Market to be held on Friday, June 21; new driving mentors needed for L2P program; a police sentiment survey; and Mind Australia's weekly men’s dinners every Wednesday throughout June.

The event was the 40th breakfast held at Hotel Rochester, and 41st overall since beginning in July 2020.

Held every third Thursday of the month from 7.45am to 9am, the sessions are open for all Rochester community members to attend.
