The police helicopter was used during a pursuit of an allegedly stolen car in Shepparton on Friday, July 21.

Officers spotted a white Hyundai i30 about 9am in Hare St, however, the driver allegedly fled.

With the assistance of Police Airwing, the car was spotted allegedly driving erratically before stop sticks were successfully deployed on Sunbury Rd, police said.

The driver of the allegedly stolen car was successfully intercepted on Poplar Ave and was arrested at the scene.

Police allege during the pursuit, the driver drove on the footpath, as well as the wrong side of the road, and was speeding.

Police allege the Hertz hire care worth $24,300, was stolen from a residential address in Shepparton earlier that morning.

The driver of the allegedly stolen car was successfully intercepted on Poplar Ave and was arrested at the scene.

A 35-year-old Shepparton man of no fixed address has been charged with dangerous driving while pursued by police, drug driving, reckless conduct endangering life, theft of a vehicle, failing to stop on police direction, unlicensed driving, and committing an indictable offence while on bail.

He has been remanded in custody to appear before the Shepparton Magistrates’ Court in August.
