State Member for Northern Victoria Gaelle Broad has encouraged locals to attend Anzac Day services across the region, including local community events.

Ms Broad said it was important Australians took the time each year to pay their respects.

“Anzac Day is an important reminder of the sacrifice of the generations who have gone before us, and how they helped to shape and defend Australia,” she said.

“We know just how hard the communities in central Victoria felt the impacts of war, even if the gunfire was on the other side of the world.”

Ms Broad also encouraged people to attend either a dawn service or a local service during the day or show support for the Anzac Appeal by buying a badge or poppy.

“The Anzac Appeal is an important fundraiser, which helps provide much-needed support to veterans and their families,” she said.

“The work they do is vital and helps to ensure we look after those who have given up so much.”
