Brrr... it’s cold out there

Shepparton residents shivered through the coldest morning in the city in 10 months on Tuesday, June 20.

The lowest overnight temperature came at 6.45am when the mercury dropped to a chilly -1.3ºC.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology, the temperature fell below 0ºC at 4.30am and did not get above it until 8.30am, when it was still only 0.5ºC.

Residents throughout the Goulburn Valley reported having to scrape ice off car windscreens, frosts covering paddocks, water in birdbaths frozen solid and even puddled water turning into ice.

The previous coldest night this month came on June 2 when the temperature dropped to 0.6ºC.

The coldest day this year saw a minimum of -1ºC recorded on May 23.

The night was the coldest since August 21 last year, when the mercury dropped to -1.5ºC.
